On Mission in Bordeaux, 2018
K180 were able to send a team to Bordeaux in June to partner with longstanding friends of the ministry Peter and Alison Kennelly, who are serving the Lord in France as missionaries with Open Air Campaigners. Although France is a very secular country, there are many opportunities for the Gospel there. We were taken aback as to how open people were on the streets to talking about Jesus and the Gospel message, with many taking tracts, gospels, and receiving prayer. Team members Gareth and Johnny preached using the sketchboard, with their messages being translated into French. Peter was our main translator, ably supported by team member Huw, with a local believer called Océane stepping in on Sunday during an outreach.
We were also able to have a long prayer walk around the city - and even on one occasion a prayer ‘cruise’, on a public transport ferry down the river, from one end of the city to the other and back! Peter and Alison humbly reminded us of the important and essential role of prayer in evangelism, in covering the work we seek to do in much prayer. We enjoyed the outreaches on Rue St. Catherine (main pedestrian shopping street) where many stopped to listen and engage. We also did an outreach in Place de Victorie - where it rained! But one young Muslim guy, a student on a bike, stopped to listen for the whole sketchboard message. One of the team ran after him when he left at the end. He was open to taking a Gospel of John and praying with the team member. He, along with the many Muslims in Bordeaux, was fasting as it was Ramadan.
We praise God for what He did over the weekend - and what Peter and Alison are doing each week. Please pray for the city of Bordeaux, and for the nation of France. There is a deep need for the Gospel there! Please pray for God to raise up workers to share the Gospel on the streets there.
