HM Russia 2022...
Our team in Russia reported that this training went very well and proved encouraging to all, despite the outbreak of war as the groups were meeting. Two groups met simultaneously, a group of young leaders from the vicinity of Moscow and a group of deaf leaders drawn from across Russia. Alongside the valuable learning experience, 4 new faculty members took part in the teaching, including History Makers graduates. This warms our hearts as we see graduates now teaching the material. This is the multiplication we love to see! Please pray for these leaders as they seek to be faithful in challenging circumstances.
“This is an amazing enterprise that is helping Christians to get on the right track to find and fulfil God’s purpose in their life.” (Aleksey) |

“I live in B* and work in a rehabilitation center. I am a former drug addict myself. Two years ago I turned to God. I really liked the HM materials. I am going to use them as seminars, in the rehabilitation center. Some materials to teach the rehabilitators, and the basics of leadership and quality for the assistants.” (participant)

HM Russia 2021...We were delighted to see that 40 young leaders could gather together in mid-February to experience History Makers training. Split into two groups (Hearing and Non-hearing) 9 churches from 3 cities were represented. One of the core team wrote afterwards;
“The participants [testified] that the Lord worked in their hearts. Many of them started [to see] He was calling them to start serving in their church, to join youth ministry, or to develop a ministry for the evangelisation of students.” We thank God for all that took place during these few days together and look to Him for the increase. |

"This time has become an inspiration for me in the ministry. The wise teachers did an excellent job teaching us, which was very edifying for me. [My] mission is to spread the Good News to all [my] friends at university, at work, and neighbours. I dream of the revival of youth in Russia and united ministry." (Participant - Hearing) "I'm 21 years old and I'm deaf. I was baptised last year. Thanks to the course 'History Makers', I realised that I can change the history... I plan to talk to my pastor and offer my help in serving the new converted Christians.” (Participant - Non-hearing) |
2019 HM in Moscow...We were delighted to see History Makers training for two sets of young leaders in November. Running in parallel, there was training for ‘hearing’ and ‘non-hearing’ participants. It is encouraging to see how the Lord is using the HM material to equip young leaders from across the country and our prayer is that all the participants will take what they have learned and apply it to their lives and ministry. On this occasion, meeting in the vicinity of Moscow, around 45 participants came aside to explore the 8 biblical core values for effective Gospel leadership. It was both a time of inspiration and equipping. Please pray for these young leaders as they seek to be faithful to His call upon their lives.

“[Following History Makers] I know that I need to establish a new church in my region. There are many of the deaf and hearing-impaired who don’t know Jesus Christ in some regions.” (Edward) "I expected it to be a special time - and it happened! God renewed my understanding of leadership” (Participant) |
2019 HM in Altai...
The first History Makers in the scenic region of Altai took place at the height of summer. It was a challenging, fun-filled, inspiring time, with participants testifying particularly about how the topic of ‘Vision’ spoke deeply into their lives. It was a memorable week in many ways, not least for 4 participants who were baptised and another couple who got engaged! Please pray for this group as they now seek to apply to their lives what they have learned during this training week.
"For me I saw new areas where I can move and develop as a leader. I saw steps that I can make once I return [home]” (Emilia) |
“Thank you for [this time of] renewal, strengthening, discovery of new things in God and myself through this! It is really awesome!” (Nickolay) |
2018 HM in Moscow...February 2018 saw two simultaneous HM training events taking place near Moscow, one for 'hearing' participants and one for 'non-hearing' participants. Alex Pushkov, our HM Champion in the region, writes about the 'non-hearing' training...
Deaf Christians in Russia have quite limited possibilities for training their leaders. It is connected with several factors. One of them is lack of education. Their specific nature is that they have sign language. And any language - Russian/English/or any other - is foreign to them. Schools where the deaf are educated are not a part of the system of education, but rather a part of social sphere, which is not well financed in Russia. The deaf are very happy that History Makers materials are very clear, specific and easy to understand, easily adapted for the needs of the deaf. And they have adopted HM materials as a tool for deaf leaders all across Russia. They call it “School of leaders”. This year they have one more instructor, who was a HM participant last year. Today they have 15 participants (which is maximum, considering their circumstances) and 3 instructors. They are very inspired. They are already planning who to invite to study at “Leadership school for the deaf” in 2019. In 2020, they want to start the education (HM Journey) in another region of Russia. Very possibly, in Siberia. |
"I understand that it wasn’t a coincidence that God brought me to this place: I received strong conviction and realisation of my superficiality, also God showed me what He wants from me and gave me specific steps to achieve my goals. I again was assured of His greatness and love and that even through someone like me He can do great things." (Nastya, HM 2018) |
2017 HM in Moscow...
This History Makers Journey had two groups of participants: a group for hearing-impaired people and a hearing group. The passion and devotion of those hearing-impaired was very visible even from a distance. The other group consisted of young leaders from different churches in Moscow. Both groups were in the same territory. It was an honour to be able to participate in this Journey with all these young passionate leaders. One of the blessings and strengths of History Makers is the opportunity to unite people from different congregations and show that the things that unite us are far greater than our minor differences - and this is what I saw here. I believe that what has been sown into the hearts of the participants will greatly bless the body of Christ in Russia and this nation. (Alex)
"I realised that I need to re-evaluate many things in my life: define my vision more accurately and in connection with this, build my priorities more specifically." (Svetlana, HM Moscow 2017)
2016 HM in Tomsk... Our HM Champion, Rob, writes... “Attendees from as far away as 5000 km to the west and nearly 3800 km to the east gathered together in the forest of one of Siberia’s oldest cities. Passion was renewed in all who came. Strategic vision and connections were made by many who attended. The hearts of leaders were made aware of the plight of orphans in their nation to the point that at least one new ministry was born and the commitment to aid those ministering to orphans was stated out loud. All agreed the next 90 days will be key and core to seeing what more God wants to do beyond our week together. If the first two weeks after our journey are indicative of the future ahead of us then many will come to know the Lord and many will be matured as his children as a result of our time together." |
Tomsk 2016 testimonies...
“I’m older than everyone else who came, but I’m as passionate as anyone else who came. I will change history while I still live and now I believe I will keep changing history even after I pass away.” Nina “This met me at a time in my life when I wondered if anything could arouse fire in my soul. Thank you History Makers for coming and thank you for including me.” Nastia “This was like the coldest water on the thirstiest tongue. I’m ready to return home and share my ministry with others by training others to carry the burden with me.” Max |
2016 HM in Moscow...Russia in February! Plenty of snow as 30 leaders gathered for History Makers just outside of Moscow. The group included 12 key leaders from the Russian Baptist Deaf Church, who, led by the Bishop, had a very clear strategy for how they will multiply the training in the days ahead. The plan is for History Makers to form a central plank in their national leadership/discipleship training. Praise God for such clear vision!

"Something changed at History Makers. The young people now believe they can do something. They want to do something. They are ready to do something" |
