On Mission in Iceland, 2018
K180 returned to Reykjavik, the Icelandic capital, in May 2018 for a weekend of evangelism and ministry at the invitation of a group of evangelists from Filadelfia church. The street outreach on Friday afternoon took the form of a small ‘street party’ in celebration of the British Royal Wedding that was happening the following day in London. We were joined by visiting evangelists from Sweden, Finland, and Switzerland, all of whom came independently (unplanned gathering) to serve the Lord on the streets in sharing the Gospel and praying for people. British flags were flying in the wind as the team served hot drinks and gave out Bible verse cards to those walking past in the downtown area. We preached the Gospel from a nearby bench, playing on the illustration of being invited to the Eternal Royal Wedding and the death and resurrection of Jesus in making that possible. With the aid of cardboard masks, the Queen even made an appearance… |

Saturday saw us take a focus on praying for the nation and the city of Reykjavik, as rainy and windy weather limited what we could do on the streets. We took time to pray at the building site of the first modern pagan temple to be built in Iceland, which is for the worship of the Norse gods. Saturday evening saw a gathering of those from the Eldhugar (Fire Department) evangelists’ group for a time of fellowship and prayer, whilst enjoying pizza together. Samuel and Gareth joined the Downtown Mission late-night team for outreach in the wind and the rain on Saturday late, and into Sunday morning. Though weather should have made it impossible to reach those walking past (mainly clubbers), some stopped, were engaged in conversations, and received prayer.
On Sunday, which happened to be Pentecost, we attended the morning Icelandic service at Filadelfia, before serving at the afternoon International Service (Samuel sharing testimony, Gareth preaching). Thanks for praying for the team. We thank God for what He’s doing in Iceland and how He’s raising up evangelists to proclaim the Gospel in these days.

On Mission in Iceland, 2016
A team from K180 went out to Iceland for a long weekend in March 2016, having been several times before, to work with local churches in street outreach and evangelism training. Though based in the capital, Reykjavik, we had the privilege on Friday of travelling to the small coastal city of Akranes to pray for the work going on there. We met with the pastor of the small Pentecostal church there, which is comprised of one family (the Pastor’s) and a “few individuals”. Many in Akranes are involved in pagan spiritualism. We had a blessed time together lifting up this city and the Church there, asking the Lord to open blind eyes and pour out His Spirit. There is great need for the Gospel all across Iceland. On Saturday afternoon, we led some evangelism training at one of the churches, Filadelfia, where participants were able to put together an illustrated message in groups. We led some street evangelism on Friday and Saturday and again joined brothers and sisters for the ‘Downtown Mission’ outreach reaching clubbers late on Saturday night. One young man who had been with us at the training in the afternoon came out on the streets for the very first time that night. He spoke with joy about his privilege of sharing the Gospel: “This is just incredible!” Many were engaged with the Gospel over the course of the weekend and we trust the Lord to bring the fruit. |

He had waited until everyone else had left the room and then came up to Gareth and said he wanted to surrender all to Christ (exactly what Gareth had challenged people to do after the service), and we were both able to pray for him.” 2014
