HM Bulgaria 2022...29 church leaders gathered together in Kyustendilendil, a city about two hours south of the capital, Sofia. Many are church planters or in pioneering ministry, and all are part of the Free Methodist Church movement. The majority of those attending were Bulgarians, with representation also from North Macedonia and Serbia. We spent 5 days together working through the History Makers material, learning, worshipping, praying… seeking God for a move of His Spirit in Bulgaria and across the Balkan region.
“This teaching has opened my mind.” (Church planter - Lubchov) |

“It’s been such a short time here and I have more energy and fire for God. My heart is burning to reach people.”
(Church planter in Plovdiv - regularly beaten up as he openly proclaims the Gospel)
HM Bulgaria 2019...This first History Makers training in Bulgaria was with the Turkish churches, serving Turkish believers now settled in Bulgaria. Participants gathered from three churches and spent 5 days opening the Scriptures and exploring the 8 Biblical core values for effective Gospel leadership. It was a fun-filled, enriched learning experience, and quite moving at times as young leaders grasped the call to make a difference with their lives. With teaching input from Turkey and the UK, there was a sense of the richness of the family of God as the group sought to meet with God and grow in their understanding of their call.

"There was one young man, A*, who stood out to me. I called him a young Hudson Taylor because he looked like a photo of him. During the vision workshop he stood up and said that he wanted to be like the apostle Paul and preach the gospel everywhere he could and suffer for it like Paul did. He was so sincere, innocently naïve – no one has told him yet that it doesn’t work like that, just like the boy with 5 loaves and fish. No-one had told him that his lunch wasn’t enough. I hope no one ever tells A* either because I believe he’ll go on to be a real History Maker for Jesus. It moved me to tears watching him listen to the last session on Finishing Well. We were speaking of the cost involved and I could see A* wiping the tears from his eyes as he listened. Later he came forward to receive his certificate – special.”
