On mission in Lviv, 2018

​We returned to Lviv again this summer along with two friends from other London mission organisations. There was a fantastic turnout from the Living Word Church, as well as several guys from a neighbouring city, as our team shared a testimony workshop on the night of our arrival.
The great weather made for perfect outreach opportunities, and everyone who attended the training joined us on the streets on Saturday. This year, in addition to sharing the gospel through Illustrated Messages, we also used the sketchboard and Steve used some escapology too. God brought some sizable crowds to hear the preaching and testimonies of our Ukrainian partners, Markiyan and Pasha, and many stayed to converse afterwards as well. Before and after the street preaching, we were able to debrief our conversations, share further tools for evangelism and discipleship, and continue to encourage those from the local church.

​In early June, K180 brought a small team back to Lviv, Ukraine, having been invited to partner with Living Word Church again. There was a big celebration in the city the weekend we were there because it was Orthodox Pentecost and there was also a festival event happening commemorating 500 years since the Reformation. On Friday evening, we led some evangelism training at the church. We were joined again (like last year) by a group from a sister church in the city of Rivne.

On Saturday, we took to the streets - setting up in the Old Town near the statue of Shevchenko. Standing on the curb of the wide promenade, the team formed a crowd, and team members shared music, testimony and illustrated Gospel messages, translated by a couple of our Ukrainian friends. Both morning and afternoon, we engaged with those who stopped to listen and many invitations to the church and tracts were given out. On the last proclamation round of the day, during Jason’s message, two young girls on skateboards stopped to listen and were engaged by a team member as they walked away. They heard the Gospel and both wanted to pray to commit their lives to Christ! They both received invitations to the church.

On Sunday, we ministered during the morning service and were able to do some more street evangelism in the afternoon. We thank God for what He’s doing in Lviv - and continue to pray for the Living Word Church team who are seeking to share Christ on the streets! Thanks for praying.

​A team from K180 went out to Western Ukraine for a long weekend in April to work in the city of Lviv at the invitation of Living Word Church. A group from a church in another city also travelled to Lviv to take part in the weekend. It was good to reconnect again with many we had met last summer at the Festival of Hope there (Franklin Graham mission). We led some evangelism training on the Friday night, including a testimony workshop, and then on Saturday and Sunday went out on the streets to share the Gospel. We had a precious time of prayer at High Castle park, overlooking the city on Saturday morning.

After the first street outreach time, Stanislav, one of the young adults from the church in Arivno, said “People of the city are ready to listen to us.” Indeed, despite the many shrines to Mary in the city and four statues of Greek gods around the city hall, there seemed a real openness on the streets: in personal conversations the team had with others and in people gathering to hear testimony and the preaching of the Gospel. A group of the young adults at Living Word church are planning to go out on the streets weekly and we look forward to what the Lord’s going to do through their witness. On mission in Lviv, 2015

​A team originally travelled to Lviv in mid June 2015 to partner with local churches in street ministry as part of the city-wide Festival of Hope, an initiative of the BGEA. Leading training and daily outreaches, we found a notable openness among those on the streets. Many people stopped to hear the Gospel, many discussions were had and several people responded to the life transforming message of Jesus. And during the main event itself, around 38,000 people crammed into the city stadium to hear the Gospel proclaimed. There was a big response as people poured forward at the invitation. Praise God!
