The time with K180 was an amazing opportunity given to me. Everything concerning K180 can be defined by one word: surprising.
From the first time I met Martin Durham and Gareth Hides until the time I left Heathrow Airport to fly home I had 4 months of literally good news. One of the most amazing characteristics of K180 is the family based idea of living. Everything learned is not by simple explanation, but by living demonstration.
I remember one of my first outreaches on the streets in Ealing Broadway. Naturally, I was afraid. My thoughts were just one: I cannot proclaim anything on a box in the corner of a busy neighborhood. On that day, when Gareth had finished his preaching, four drunken people approached him to ‘gently’ mock his speech. When I saw that, I could only feel my blood pressure pump up fast, but the reality was that I was still afraid. When Martin saw my reaction, he simply put his arms around my shoulders, he told me that everything was okay and that I just needed to come closer to Gareth and his ‘new’ friends. I hesitated. Therefore, Martin led me closer to the discussion and, naturally, I started to talk with one of the people.
Such a story is just one of plenty that I could tell. It was a totally unique experience, because no course or professor can teach a student how not to fear. The association with K180 demonstrated love and care for me in practical ways too.
Another incredible thing about my time with K180 was that I could serve in several different ways and contexts. I travelled five times in a period of four months, which means I spent one third of my time on mission overseas. Not only were the mission trips surprising and distinct, but also the routine in London was, because everyday I had an outreach in a different part of town: from an oriental-busy neighborhood to a posh-calm part of London.
In order to finish this simple testimony, I would like to illustrate the house in which we stayed for a week in Lviv, Ukraine. It is called Bethel House. The Blessing family (yes, that is their name) built in the course of the last 10 years a special place just to receive missionaries and family. It was possible to see how God calls people to serve him though the nations. I remember to wake up early one day and the family was already up to prepare breakfast for more than 20 people. They had just one thing in mind, to serve the Lord with all their strength.
There is nothing like the family of God. K180 is certainly and consciously part of such amazing, blessed and beautiful family, ready to serve anyone who is called to go there.
