ZAMBIA
The team with our local host leaders
Zambia 2012... It is a joy to return to Zambia each year, partnering alongside our brothers and sisters, visiting the same churches, and building upon relationships developed over time. Our goal each year is to take evangelists to a different cultural context and Zambia certainly provides that. We work under the leadership of the Pilgrim Wesleyan Church of Zambia. Their work in bringing the gospel to southen Zambia, discipling believers and raising leaders continues to be a real encouragement to us and those who go to Zambia in support of their work. As last year, we partnered with South Hanwell Baptist Church in taking a team of 10 to preach, teach and encourage the local believers. As is so often the case though, our team received far more than was given… Starting in Lusaka, we met with a junior cabinet minister who was keen to hear of our work over several years. Our partnership with the Pilgrim Wesleyan Church has resulted in many lives being reconciled to Christ, many people healed, a well dug that provides fresh water in one of the townships, and every believer in Kalomo district (50+ churches) have now got their own bible (1200+ bibles). Praise God! During the mission we stayed in Lusaka, Livingstone and two villages, working alongside the church leaders to train and encourage local believers and share the gospel in nightly evangelistic meetings. We were also involved in street and door to door evangelism. Working alongside the local churches was an encouragement for the team and the local leaders. We were truely blessed to see God at work in bringing people to a saving knowledge of Christ.
And a big “thank you” to all those who have contributed in making this happen. Your giving has made an eternal impact!
SHORT TERM MISSIONS
Street work in Spain
The goal of short term missions is both to serve the local church in any given country, and to give opportunity for interns and those in training, to experience ministry in a different cultural context. We regularly support local missions and churches in Europe and interns will be involved in a work agreed in collaboration with the local partner. This will ormally include street work, testimonies and teaching and sometimes preaching. In order to give you more insight into our work please read the brief articles below on two recent short term missions.
Vilnius 2012...
Following our mission back in October, Bible Way Church in Vilnius invited a team back to help train in evangelism. It was clear from the outset that this was God’s timing for this visit. The young people’s group (18-30) at the church had been faithfully praying for 3 months that God would direct them in evangelism and then they discovered that a church leader had invited us to come. It was an exciting weekend of practical evangelism instruction as well as going onto the streets to proclaim Christ right in the heart of the capital city, Vilnius.
One of the leaders of the young people’s work had a confession at the end of our time,“When the team arrived I was not planning to get involved at all this weekend. Then God challenged me to come to the teaching. I want to tell you that every teaching touched my heart. I wish more people could be here to catch the fire. I am so excited!”
Budapest 2012... A team of 4 went to Budapest....
Rachel (see Training page for her story) joined the team that travelled to Budapest, Hungary, to work alongside the ‘Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’ and their weekend-long Festival of Hope. As well as helping at the Festival itself (where hundreds came to Christ), the team also took to the streets with a local church. This picture shows Martin sharing Christ with a man working on the river front. At the end of the conversation they prayed together as the man made a declaration of faith in Jesus Christ!
